What is Hashing?

So, you've ventured this far and are wondering just what a hashing really is.  Many people would try to describe it, but you would get 6 or 7 versions of the story and all would be true to some extent. Here's one version:

Hashing is a game. Hashing is being a kid again. It's running in the streets, through the woods, over the hills, down creek beds in the pursuit of good times and beer. Hashing is seeing areas of town and of the world that you would not have seen otherwise.

A Santa Bastard Hash starts with a short get together to hydrate ourselves for the challenges of running the trail. The sucker, err hare for that evening's run takes off with a hearty ON-ON and a wake of flour dust. Fifteen minutes later the pack is off to catch the hare.

To avoid capture the hare can use false trails, back trails, and best of all - BEER - to slow the pack down and keep everybody together. You follow the hare's fine trail through the streets, over the hills, all sorts of slop, for three to five miles until you get to the end.

Yes, hashing is all of that, and more. But when your beer is empty, your scraped knee has scabbed and your poison oak no longer itches, to be a hasher is about great stories, offbeat places, and life long relationships with some of the most remarkable people you could imagine.

Come out and play with us find out what Hashing is for yourself.

Why Hash?

"Hashing is a state of mind- a friendship of kindred spirits joined together for the sole purpose of reliving their childhood or fraternity days, releasing the tensions of everyday life, and generally, acting a fool amongst others who will not judge you or measure you by anything more than your sense of humor."
